RE: Annual Notification of Asbestos Materials
Under AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act), all primary and secondary schools are required to develop and implement a plan for managing all building materials which contain asbestos. Included in the AHERA Act is the requirement to annually notify all workers and building occupants (or their guardians) of asbestos-related activities.
All buildings at Catherine McAuley High School have been inspected for the presence of Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM’s). A written plan for the management of ACBM’s has been developed. The asbestos management plan identifies the type and location of ACBM’s in school building and outlines operational procedures for proper building maintenance to minimize exposure to asbestos hazards. The school also maintains records of all asbestos reinspections, surveillance activities, and response actions. There records are available for inspection at the office of the Business Manager / Director of Operations.
The condition of all ACBM’s will be semi-annually subject to surveillance.
This summer we are planning to have our three year state inspection.
